Why does the tool ask for fat + true protein content?
The dairy module of the CFT is aligned with the International Dairy Federation (IDF) methodology. Using the fat and true protein content allows for better comparison between farms which may have different breeds or feeding regimes. True protein is used instead of crude protein because crude protein calculations overestimate the amount of protein in milk (this is because crude protein looks at the nitrogen content of milk, and not all of this nitrogen is found in protein).
