What can I expect from the CFP V3.0 Release?

What can I expect from the CFP V3.0 Release?

What is the CFP, and why was it introduced?

In April 2024, we launched the Cool Farm Platform (CFP) as the foundation for all our pathways moving forward. Within the CFP, we introduced the Perennials Module, which has been widely adopted by both members and non-members. If you haven't already, sign up for a free account using the link below:

This was the first step in transitioning away from our older tool, the Cool Farm Tool (CFT). The CFT, built on outdated infrastructure, was becoming cumbersome. As we updated our methodology for the pathways housed within the CFT, we decided to integrate these updates into the CFP, enabling a smoother transition.

What’s new in CFP V3.0?

The CFP V3.0 release is scheduled for 2025 and will include several key updates:

  • Introduction of the V3.0 methodology, fully integrated into the CFP infrastructure.

  • Annual crop pathway upgrade to 3.0 within the CFP. Including bespoke pathways for rice and potatoes.

  • Dairy & Beef pathway upgrade to 3.0 within the CFP. Including own grown feed & herd inventory refresh

  • Addition of new SOC & nursery models to the Perennial pathway in the CFP

  • Aggregation report functionality within the CFP.

What is the timeline for testing and migration?

To ensure a smooth transition, we have implemented the following testing phases:

  • Q1 2025 – Member testing of CFP V3.0

  • April 2025 – Beta testing phase

  • mid-2025 – Official release of CFP V3.0

  • After the CFP V3.0 release – Migration of historic assessments from CFT to CFP V3.0

When will the CFT be decommissioned?

We do not have a confirmed decommissioning date for the CFT at this time, as our focus is on delivering CFP V3.0 and ensuring a seamless transition. However, we do not anticipate the CFT being phased out before the end of 2025.

When will the biodiversity and water metrics be available on the CFP?

We will be migrating these across to the Cool Farm Platform is soon as possible after the GHG crop, dairy and beef pathways are live, and user data is migrated.

Will my assessments from the CFT be automatically transferred to CFP?

Yes, but not immediately. After the 2025 release of CFP V3.0, we will begin work on migrating historic assessments from CFT to the CFP. More details on this process will be shared in due course.

How can we join member testing?

Member testing has already begun, but please email support@coolfarmtool.org for more information.

Regarding API changes, will updated technical documentation be available?
