Which international standards and frameworks does the Cool Farm Platform align with?
The Cool Farm Platform (CFP) has been developed to align with internationally recognised greenhouse gas accounting standards and frameworks while maintaining a practical, farm-level methodology for calculating product carbon footprints.
The CFP supports greenhouse gas accounting in line with:
- GHG Protocol Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard
- ISO 14067:2018
- International Dairy Federation (IDF) Global Carbon Footprint Standard for the Dairy Sector (2022) (for the dairy pathway)
- SBTi and GHG Protocol Land Sector & Removals Guidance (draft)
The CFP provides cradle-to-farm-gate product carbon footprints that can be used by organisations as an input to Scope 3 greenhouse gas inventories and to support emissions reduction and reporting initiatives.
While the CFP can provide the greenhouse gas inventory required for a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), it is not a complete LCA tool. A full LCA also requires additional elements such as goal and scope definition, impact assessment beyond climate change, interpretation, uncertainty analysis and reporting.
The CFP is designed to produce consistent, transparent and scientifically robust farm-level emissions data that can be integrated into wider sustainability reporting and carbon accounting frameworks.
