How will perennials with a matching typology in CFP be migrated?
Perennial crops assessed in CFT that already have a corresponding perennial typology in CFP will be migrated into the CFP perennials pathway, not the annuals pathway. All new/additional fields required by the CFP perennial model will be left blank and these missing fields need to be filled retrospectively.
What this means for you
- The assessment will appear as a perennial assessment in CFP with the correct crop typology selected and will benefit from the enhanced and crop-specific developed methodology adapted to perennials systems and management practices.
- Because the new required perennial fields are blank, the perennial model will not run until you complete those fields.
Why are there no default values to complete the assessment for me?
We intentionally do not fill new perennial fields with default values during migration for you (no “made‑up” conservative assumptions). Perennial systems are highly diverse, and any “one‑size‑fits‑all” default would risk incorrect or misleading results and introduce systematic bias. Leaving fields empty keeps assumptions transparent and auditable, and clearly shows where additional data is needed before the perennial model can run.
We will develop a support plan to highlight the affected assessments (whether in CFP or via a report) and guide you through the necessary steps to complete the assessments (shared in future communication & updates).
Here is an article for further information on migration of perennial crops without an existing matching typology in CFP.
