How do I insert a crop assessment as a feed input for my dairy/beef assessment in the CFP?
When growing your own animal feed, we allocate the emissions based on the amount fed as we pull through the emissions per weight of crop product e.g. if you grow 100 tonnes of wheat but fed only half that amount, the feed production emissions in the cattle pathway for this own grown feed item will be half the crop assessment emissions.
To mark a crop assessment as used for animal feed,
- In the annual crop pathway, click into the assessment overview after you submit the assessment and then scroll down to the ‘mark as own grown feed’ section.
- You can then click on the top right ‘add feed data’ and enter the weight basis and feed properties proxy. CFP V3 will look up the dry matter content based on the feed properties proxy you select. The feed properties proxy also tells us the crude protein, digestible energy, and gross energy content of the feed, which informs the calculations of enteric fermentation and manure management emissions.
- Once you have added the feed data, you can select your annual crop assessment by name in the feed section of your cattle assessment and enter the amount fed.
