How to define your soil characteristic/classification for the Tier 1 SOC model:
If you are using the Tier 1 model for soil carbon changes, you need to define your farm's soil characteristic. You can use the default option 'high activity clay', as many soils have this classification due to its sand content. However, it is important to define the correct soil characteristic for your field and farm, as this can influence the effect the magnitude of management changes on your results. To define your soil characteristic, us the respective endpoint in the API Docs endpoint in the navigation panel. This endpoint is available to any user to retrieve the characteristic specific to their coordinates. Follow these steps:
- Before starting an assessment, go to the API Docs in the navigation menu.
- Click on the right arrow of the soil characteristic endpoint and click on try out.
- Enter latitude and longitude.
- Click on execute.
- You can now use the soil characteristic indicated in the response box below and copy into your assessment.
