What impact does this grazing quality have on my results?
Grazing quality information is required for the digestibility of grass and refers to the quality when the animals are grazing.
High quality refers to grass from good pastures that is mostly green, leafy, and actively growing, providing better nutrition for the animals, this is often actively managed and fertilised.
Low quality refers to grass from rangelands that is more mature, stemmy, dry, or sparse, providing lower nutritional value, this is often unfertilised.
Both grassland quality levels have the same dry matter content but differ in the digestive efficiency. The lower the digestive efficiency, the higher the methane emissions from enteric fermentation. The grass quality is will use it to estimate the digestibility of the grass, which is required for the enteric fermentation and manure management calculations.
You can only have one grazing option per herd category. If your grazing varies during the season or total grazing area for that herd category, choose the option that best represents the average conditions during the grazing period.
