For new sections in CFP, will recalculation of the old assessments require new information to maintain all impact areas?

It is especially the perennials pathway in CFP that requires more data points than annual crops in CFT to complete the assessments (e.g. lifecycle information. We will migrate everything we can, but we cannot default or guess perennial‑specific data (e.g., prunings) that are now important. Read the articles here for further information on how perennials migration is handled. You can already register in CFP and get a feel for the new data points, and consult our Version Comparison appendix for UI changes.

In general, for cattle and crops the data fields are mostly the same. Some fields may have moved to different sections and there may be some differences in dropdown options (e.g. machinery). There are a few new models such as the Tier 2 SOC model for crops or the grassland model for cattle. If you don’t use a given model, you don’t need to enter its data. However keep in mind that new models like refrigerants or seeds are required for cradle to farm gate assessments. You can include them as extended scope when comparing to your baseline.

For cattle, while there are not necessarily new data points in existing models, some data now affects emissions in CFP3.0 where they didn’t before, such as embedded emissions for purchased animals, and thus should be added for completeness.

Finally, please keep in mind that you may see differences in results that reflect improvements and greater accuracy. For all pathways, CFA members can consult the Version Comparison for new or updated models and EFs, bug fixes and new or updated data points in the UI.
