Can the temperate forest biome questionnaire also be used for boreal forests or grasslands?
The tool is designed for temperate forest biomes, so it hasn’t been specifically designed with boreal forest or grasslands in mind. However, the design features that link to biomes are only indirectly based on data. The evidence assessments come from the correct biomes, and the species groups and actions are chosen by stakeholders to represent those farming systems. The tool can still be informative if used in a different biome, as long as these caveats are understood. It should not be considered to represent evidence or expert judgement of what are the best practices specifically to that biome, but it can be used to compare across similar farms, or changes within the same farm over time. Consider this if you want to use it for different biomes (e.g. boreal forests in the US or Canada).
