Can I add a new feed additive to the cattle methods?

Can I add a new feed additive to the cattle methods?

Yes, you can add a new feed additive to our system. However, please be aware that we currently have a minimum lead time of 18 months for the addition of any new feed additives. This timeframe is essential for us to ensure that any new additive complies with our stringent method policy and our existing commitments.

For a feed additive to be considered, it must be compliant with our method policy, which outlines the specific standards and procedures that must be followed. You can find more details about our method policy here.

Additionally, the evidence required for the feed additives must align with the standards we have set for additives currently included in our tool, such as 3NOP and nitrate. Specifically, we require a meta-analysis of in vivo studies from peer-reviewed literature. This analysis must itself be peer-reviewed and published to ensure the credibility and reliability of the data. For a more detailed technical description of these requirements, please refer to this link for the Beef pathway and this link for the Dairy pathway.

We encourage anyone interested in submitting a new feed additive for consideration to review these guidelines thoroughly to ensure compliance and facilitate the review process.
